Inside an Indian Forest
The Shola forests are found in the Western Ghats of India. This rich ecosystem contains many endemic species of animals, birds, plants and trees. These forests provided food, shelter and even medicinal and ritual needs, for many ancient tribes that lived nearby and depended on it, and in fact are found to have been in existence for years before human settlements in the area! Their survival is threatened today due to encroachment from plantations, mining activities, and agriculture.
